During her travels, she served as a crew member on a variety of charter boats, showcasing her ability to handle anything on a sailboat. She has a deep love for everything water and an abundance of stories from her experiences worldwide. Proficient in onboard safety, Mireia possesses STCW-95 safety training. Furthermore, she undergoes annual training in CPR, First Aid, AED, Child CPR, and Child First Aid.
When she is not busy being an incredible mother, you can find her onboard ensuring that each guest has a big smile and an amazing experience on their private boat tour.
Will Ventress
Captain & Fleet Manager
In the Spring of 2023 Captain Will relocated from St. Thomas, USVI to help us offer private boat tours in Charleston. Welcoming this Georgian native, we embraced his innate sense of adventure and extraordinary passion for sailing—a decision we’re thrilled about. Furthermore, Will’s expansive love for the outdoors took root when he discovered his sailing passion on the renowned Lake Lanier, GA, eventually transforming into a career that led him on adventures up and down the entire East Coast, throughout most of the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico.
As a licensed USCG 100 Ton Master Captain, Capt. Will is not only well-versed in sailing but also holds certifications in First Aid CPR/AED with the American Heart Association and Level IV SwiftWater Rescue with the American Canoeing Association. His genuine affection for the ocean and the art of sailing is palpable, creating a lighthearted, fun, and safe experience for exploring all the sights from a unique perspective.
Kathleen Saunders
Captain
Born into a long line of Annapolis sailors, Kathleen is the first woman in her family to sail professionally. As a teen, she worked on a three-masted tall ship and oceanographic research vessel and later in her life, she worked for the College of Charleston Sailing Center as an instructor. Teaching is one of Kathleen’s greatest passions in life. Today, Kathleen captains private charters, boat/yacht deliveries, and teaches private keelboat lessons. She is particularly passionate about getting more women at the helm!
Kathleen holds a USCG 50-Ton Master License and is certified in First Aid CPR/AED and STCW-95. She is trained in survival at sea, meteorology, and knows a great deal of Charleston history and ecology. She is also an internationally recognized artist. Despite all that, Kathleen doesn’t take herself too seriously. Her playful personality and welcoming nature make every charter that much more fun!
Holly Hillman
First Mate/Captain
With a heart deeply rooted in the rhythm of the waves, Holly has spent years connecting with the ocean in any way she can. Whether with SCUBA, restoring salt marshes and oyster reefs along the SC coast, surfing with her Veteran sisters and brothers on Folly Beach, or sailing the length of the East coast and beyond, she intimately knows the power of water when it comes to healing the soul and calming the mind.
Holly is our resident “nature nerd” and loves to share fun facts about the species you might encounter out on the water. Also, she loves Charleston’s food scene and is always full of recommendations for the best spots to grab a bite. Furthermore, she has received training in CPR & first aid and has recently received her captain’s license, and starting to share her passion from behind the helm as a captain on our private boat tours.
Kai & Bru Clusella Morris
Crew in Training
The latest members of the Blue Life Charters family are Kai and Bru. Since their births in 2020 and 2023, they have both been sailing with Mom and Dad starting at only a couple of weeks old. However, while they might not make frequent appearances onboard during charters, Kai and Bru thoroughly enjoy sailing on non-charter days. You may see them occasionally strolling the docks, boat-watching, in between charter times. Therefore, perhaps in the future, they will be the ones taking guests out on the water for private boat tours in Charleston!
Popsicle
Deckhand
Popsicle is the glorified deckhand of Blue Life Charters. He is a 30-pound rescue pup from St. Thomas, VI. Mireia and Wit rescued him while sailing in the Caribbean, and he made his debut onboard at just three months old. Ever since, Popsicle has adored the sea. Especially, when it comes to spotting Dolphins on our Dolphin tours in Charleston SC.
Whether he’s lounging in the sun at midship or sitting in the cockpit, reveling in the wind in his fur, Popsicle is a constant source of joy. While he may not assist in setting the anchor for swimming, he undoubtedly brings a smile to everyone’s face.
